Visual Edge is a time to learn, share and connect with colleagues.

Visual Edge is a conference and workshop that teaches working visual journalists and managers the technical and management skills needed to put the newest technology to use in their newspapers, web publications and organizations.

"I've always found the most important part of NPPA's Digital Conferences and Electronic Photojournalism Workshops was the opportunity to rub elbows with my counterparts around the industry, swap war stories and share hard-earned tricks of the electronic trade. Now that the two events have merged into Visual Edge, there is even more opportunity to mix." — John VanBeekum, Miami Herald, Visual Edge 99 Chair

About a hundred volunteers from newspapers, online publications, educational institutions and a variety of digitally enabled companies, large and small, organize, brainstorm and pull together the best collection of talent from our industry for six days of conference sessions, workshops, training and evening chats.

Two years ago, right after the Digital Conference in Dallas, a plan evolved to merge the Digital Conference and National Press Photographers Association's Electronic Photojournalism Workshop into one organization to better adapt to the quickly changing world of digital imaging and visual journalism.

This new organization became Visual Edge.

The Poynter Institute for Media Studies added their support and all parties decided to hold the new conference in St. Petersburg for three years. VE 98 was the first event; VE 99 is the second.

This event is for you. If you have any ideas for Visual Edge 99, let us hear them. Throughout this web site, you'll see e-mail addresses listed beside our names so you can contact us.

See you in St. Petersburg next August.
